A Guide To Drilling Tiles For Renovation

Taking on a bathroom renovation project on your own can be quite a daunting challenge. You may have a bucket full of bathroom renovation ideas but it is important that you do your research to avoid any damages or harm to yourself.

During your renovation project, you will likely need to do some drilling in order to install pipes, faucets, light fixtures etc. Handling machinery like a drilling can be dangerous and intimidating but with the right direction, you can become a professional at it.

The first major tip is to read all the instruction for the fixtures you are about to install. They will have specifications and additional instructions needed for a successful drilling and installation. Also enquire ceramic tile suppliers and ensure that you have all the right tools that are required before you start your project.

Apart from a power drill, you will need a carbide-tipped drill bit that’s for drilling glass, ceramic and stone. You will also need safety goggles, masking or painter’s tape, a pencil, a scrap piece of wood for drilling loose tile, a cup of water and towels or something similar to protect the surrounding area from dust.

Now let’s take a step-by-step breakdown of how to drill into bathroom tiles.

Step 1 – Start by putting on your safety goggles to protect your eyes from any tile shards or dust.

Step 2 – Using a painter’s tape, make an X on the tile over where you want to drill. Use a pencil to mark the exact spot you want to drill on the tape. The tape will help keep the tile and glaze from cracking.

Step 3 – Insert your drill bit into the drill and locks it in. Always check your drill to make sure it’s on the “normal” drilling.

Step 4 – Power on your drill. Using moderate speed and pressure, begin drilling at the point marked on your tile. Maintain a consistent speed until you feel the drill bit perforate the backside of the tile.

Step 5 – Release pressure on the drill as soon as the drill bit comes through the tile. This will help to create a clean hole. If you are drilling into an installed tile, continue drilling through the backer board.

Step 6 – Remove the drill from the hole and turn the power off.

You have successfully drilled through your first piece of tile. With a little practice, you will soon feel like there is nothing to it.

Entryway Ideas That Will Stun Your Guests

You can make a lasting impression on every visitor by employing the right entryway ideas. This area can help you show off your home’s style quotient and set the tone for your home’s aesthetic. Therefore, it’s important to think beyond Indian bathroom designs and come up with a tile design idea you love. Think of the entrance to your space as the doorway to your personal world by considering one of the ideas listed below to make it the highlight feature of your home.

Marble Leads The Way
Many historic designs, including the Victorian style, are all about keeping it classic with timeless designs and elegance. Marble tile or tile that resembles marble has the versatility as well as polished shine of porcelain that looks amazing when used for the entryway. It features veins of colour that create unique patterns. This idea looks great on its own but you always have the liberty to add a medallion to it in order to create a focal point.

Flagstone Follows After
Digital wall tiles or even ceramics might seem like a good option for the entryway but nothing makes a stronger impression than the natural slate stone. Featuring mainly in the French countryside, farmhouses and Mediterranean homes, the soil and water proportion in this tile gives it great shades of brown, gold, pink, and blue. A classic pattern accomplished with flagstone tile can be the perfect addition to the rustic element of your home’s entryway.

Keeping Up With Traditional Travertine
If you’re looking to make an impact with tile while simultaneously achieving a timeless look, consider travertine. Especially suited for homes that are designed keeping traditional aesthetics in mind, travertine is a conventional yet trendy material that comes in a number of patterns. Whether you go with a grid pattern, an asymmetrical pattern, or a diamond pattern, you’ll end up with a look that can never really lose its charm.

Getting Creative With Mosaic
You can now use mosaic for something other than your bathroom ceramic tile flooring by allowing life and colour to your home’s entryway with the use of glass mosaic tiles. These tiles create an interesting, lively pattern that can spruce up any entryway whatsoever. This material is the most preferred as well as suggested material to use within art and gothic inspired home designs.

It’s important to set the stage for your space by making a statement with its entryway designs. Fortunately, tile is a versatile material that can help you succeed in this arena. Drop by again for more innovative ideas!

Best Floors Ideas For High Traffic Areas

An area for heavy traffic users demands that you install a tough, durable and solid flooring that can withstand the regular wear and tear of high traffic along with that it continues to look good for several years to come. After all, who wants to go through the trouble of having a new flooring installed altogether!

Here are the top types of flooring one should keep in mind while installing for an area of high and heavy traffic:

Tile Flooring:

One of the main reasons why interior decorators and designers opt for ceramic tile flooring installations is its strong durability factor. Ceramic tile is classified by its hardness. This helps the buyer determine the places it can be used and installed in. One area where it is mostly found is the one prone to heavy footfall.

If you are worried about the designs then do not as, in today's time these tiles are available in a plethora of designs and style. Modern manufacturing and advanced design has taken these tiles to a whole new level, need tile but want a wood-like look? No problem, just pick the wood like look range of ceramic tiles and you will be good to go.

Concrete Flooring:

Here's another option that you can go for. Concrete flooring doesn't necessarily have to look like a sidewalk or a parking lot! Today's concrete flooring options include acid-stained, etched, stamped, tinted - you name it and it is out there in the market!

Concrete flooring matched with glazed ceramic tile flooring will give your space and edge over others and is sure to stay with you for years to come!

Natural Stone:
If your pocket allows then opt for natural stone flooring and forget about laying concrete floor that's a look alike! Any sort of flooring such as vitrified tiles is not as impactful in front of natural stone flooring. However, both the cost of the material and installation are on the higher side but as already stated nothing looks as special as  natural stone flooring.

You are bound to attract guests and footfall to your space with such a kind of flooring but do note that not all stone floors are super resistant so for high traffic areas go for stones like granite, limestone, and sandstone.

We hope to bring in more people to you with the our suggestions! If you enjoyed reading then do come back for more.

Hand painted and field tiles are a sensible duo that makes for classic pairing options. From true subway tiles to more contemporary large format rectangles, these tiles put forth a wide pool of shapes that cleanly complement the intricacies of a hand painted pattern.

In Your Bathroom
From the floor, to the walls, to your shower pan, there is a lot of ground to be covered in the bathroom, hence a lot of fun to be had with tiles! You can go bold with a hand painted accent wall or floor, but if you’re on a budget, you can always make a statement with a short splash or a running band above your sink. Moreover, hand painted patterns work especially well for flooring options. They look great and as an added advantage, they create a nice grip for your feet in damp environment.

In Your Kitchen

Whether you go for a hand painted backsplash and field tile for your flooring, or vice versa, you’re guaranteed a result you will love for times to come. Many people tend to go ahead with a hand painted focal point above the stove top and tile the rest of the kitchen space with field tile. There’s no need to spend a lot of money on glossy tiles if you’re looking for a more affordable way to go.

Another option for the kitchen is pairing thin glazed brick or glazed vitrified tiles with hand painted tile to add more meaning to your space.

In Your Living Room
A hand painted tile floor smartly paired with classic 3x6 subway tiles on the backsplash allows for an exquisite flooring option. The living room floor is a beautiful canvas that can be rightly decorated with marble look tiles, polished vitrified tiles, and more to show off a larger scale hand painted pattern.

Try experimenting with the ideas we have listed above and behold the stunning sight that awaits you!
